Aric’s Answer

Hi Chika,
To become an architect in the United States you need to earn a Bachelor of Architecture (this is the quickest path). However you can actually study anything in college and get a degree in any field . If you choose this path you would be required to then go for a Masters of Architecture. These are the only two degrees that will put you on the path to becoming an architect. After you graduate your are required to complete the three year long IDP (Intern Development Program) : https://youngarchitect.com/understanding-intern-development-program-idp/. Upon completion of your IDP training you will be eligible to sit for the licensing exam which is made up of 6 parts: Practice Management, Project Management, Programming & Analysis, Project Planning & Design, Project Development & Documentation, Construction & Evaluation. Approximately 50% of candidates pass the exam there first time.
Good luck!!
