Sushanta’s Answer
Most of the colleges offer two distinct majors for students aiming for IT careers:
1. Computer Science [CS]
2. Management Information System [MIS] / Computer Information System [CIS]
MIS / CIS is geared toward practical computer applications and is more appropriate if you are aiming for an IT manager career.
Good luck!

Certainly a degree course will help.
Additionally I would take some Microsoft accredited course plus some ITIL courses.
However I recommend you do some work experience with a large organisation where you spend a little time in various departments which expand your palette and enable you to focus your efforts in one particular area.

To become a computer information systems manager, follow these steps:
1. Start in a challenging position such as programmer or server administrator and excel in it for a couple of years to gain experience and a positive reputation.
2. Volunteer for roles that involve coordinating, planning, and progress reporting to help your manager see you in a leadership position.
3. Discuss opportunities for growth with your manager and express your interest in 'doing more,' without directly suggesting being in charge.
Keep in mind the challenges IT managers face, such as getting suitable funds, staying updated with technology, maintaining security, balancing outsourcing vs. in-house staff, and developing new corporate initiatives using technology.
Remember, becoming an IT manager may not be the end goal, as you may discover you prefer other meaningful roles within the IT field.
