How can I start getting a job in my field I am finishing college in August and obtaining my Bachelor’s in Entrepreneurship, Management, and Marketing ?

My previous job was at an accounting firm for 7 months as the accountant assistant, receptionist, and administrative assistant all at once. Besides that I work at a Wawa for 6 months. I have other different temporary seasonal jobs like in summer camps with teens, school library assistant, and as a transportation dispatcher. I need advice I am currently not working but would like to do so soon.

To start getting a job in your field of Entrepreneurship, Management, and Marketing, here are some steps you can take:

Update your Resume: Tailor your resume to highlight your relevant experience, skills, and education in entrepreneurship, management, and marketing. Emphasize any achievements, projects, or coursework that demonstrate your knowledge and capabilities in these areas.
Develop Your Online Presence: Create or update your professional profiles on platforms like LinkedIn. Highlight your education, skills, internships, and any projects or achievements related to entrepreneurship, management, and marketing. Connect with professionals in your field and join relevant groups and communities to expand your network.
Network: Networking is crucial for finding job opportunities. Reach out to your college alumni network, attend career fairs, join industry-specific events, and participate in local business organizations or entrepreneurship groups. Networking can lead to potential job referrals and connections with professionals in your field.
Internships and Entry-Level Positions: Consider applying for internships or entry-level positions in entrepreneurship, management, or marketing. These opportunities can provide valuable hands-on experience, help you build your professional network, and serve as a stepping stone to full-time employment.
Research Companies and Job Opportunities: Conduct research on companies that align with your career goals and have positions in entrepreneurship, management, or marketing. Check their websites, job boards, and professional networks for job postings. Consider reaching out directly to companies you are interested in, even if they don't have current openings, to express your interest and inquire about potential future opportunities.
Leverage Your Previous Experience: While your previous job and temporary positions may not directly align with your degree, highlight transferable skills gained from these experiences. For example, your accounting firm experience demonstrates administrative skills and attention to detail, while working at Wawa showcases customer service and teamwork abilities. Emphasize these skills and how they can contribute to your desired field.
Professional Development: Stay updated on industry trends, attend webinars or workshops, and consider acquiring relevant certifications or completing online courses related to entrepreneurship, management, or marketing. These efforts can demonstrate your commitment to professional growth and make you more competitive in the job market.
Apply Strategically: Tailor your cover letter and job applications to each specific opportunity. Clearly articulate how your skills, education, and experience make you a strong fit for the role. Customize your application materials to showcase your understanding of the company's mission, values, and industry.
Remember, finding a job takes time and effort. Stay persistent, be proactive in your job search, and leverage your network to increase your chances of securing a job in your field. Good luck!

One additional idea is to explore your school's resources. Some schools have Career Development Centers that offer guidance and they also sometimes have alumni networks that you may be able to tap into. You may also be able to search for alumni information on LinkedIn.

Hello Jasmin,

To initiate a successful job hunt in your area of expertise, which includes Entrepreneurship, Management, and Marketing, you might want to take the following action steps:

1. Refresh your resume and LinkedIn profile: Ensure that your resume and LinkedIn profile are current, emphasizing your pertinent skills and experiences, such as past employments and any relevant academic work.
2. Build relationships and network: Tap into your professional and personal circles to find potential job opportunities or get introduced to those who might know of some. Participate in career fairs, industry-related events, and networking sessions to connect with professionals in your field.
3. Personalize your application documents: Adapt your resume and cover letter to each job you're applying for, focusing on the skills and experiences that are most suitable for the role.
4. Consider internships or entry-level roles: A number of companies provide internships or entry-level roles to fresh graduates. These opportunities can be an excellent way to gain practical experience and expand your professional network.
5. Check out job postings on company websites: Many businesses post their job vacancies on their own websites, so it's a good idea to regularly visit the websites of companies you'd like to work for.
6. Utilize job search platforms: Websites like Indeed, LinkedIn, and Glassdoor can assist you in finding job vacancies and applying for roles that match your skills and experiences.

Additional advice:

* Be assertive in your job hunt and apply for roles that pique your interest.
