Are there any majors/careers that are oversaturated?
Recently, I saw an uptick in people choosing a major in computer science which leads to loads of computer science majors but not enough jobs for all computer science majors. Where else does this happen if any?

Great question!
There are specific indicators that assist with our economists providing solid data for predicted jobs/professions in the future regarding openings and opportunities. Search for aggregate US job supply/demand 2025, 27, 2030, etc. and you should find solid and reputable resources that are valid within a few percentage points either way. I trend towards reading unbiased, non-politically affiliated news outlets ranging from Reuters, Wall Street Journal, Market Watch, and Forbes. An additional resource is the US Bureau of Labor Statistics which supplies strong and detailed research regarding employment trends, market variables, and overall economic development for the U.S.
Honestly, I have not delved into this much lately yet the resources are there. Additionally, your school may offer a Career Exploration platform that offers insight based upon your input, personality traits, level of income desired, etc. When I have worked with students using such platforms I had a strong level of appreciation for what it offered and provided students. Meanwhile, I am not sure students necessarily did and I think a similar program could assist even college age students. Career pathways & solidifying one for each student is and should be an area of emphasis for educators regarding their students' development. I believe it is vital & Xello was a great resource. Hope this helps & Thanks again!

Hi Sally, you're absolutely correct! The concept is straightforward: higher demand leads to increased supply. As we're aware, IT is in high demand, making the Computer Science field quite popular among young people. It's a field with numerous opportunities, and all you need to do is enter and continuously improve your skills.
When there's an abundance of something, it can become saturated. Therefore, demand must rise and vice versa. Your thought process is spot on! Keep up the great thinking, and I wish you all the best!

Hi Sally, yes you are right, simple e.g more Demand more Supply, so as we know IT has more demand and hence Computer science stream is one of the famous one and most of our youth like to choose it.You get so many options in here, its all you ned to egt in throug and keep upskillinh yuself so
So when you have over supply of something things will be unsaturated. Hence demands has to increase and vice versa.
