Questions for those working as or once were Automotive service Technicians or Mechanics

Hello, my name is Nathan and I'm a high school student looking to contact with those who are currently or once working in the Automotive industry as service technicians or mechanics as for a project I'm working on. I have 9 questions I would like to ask to those apart of the industry and these occupations who happen to come by this.

1) What lead you to this occupation?
2) What education did you undergo before becoming a service Technician or Mechanic?
3) Have you worked in any previous occupations before becoming a service Technician or Mechanic?
4) What training or education did you undergo to become a service Technician or Mechanic?
5) What services do you offer to customers?
6) Where or what was your place of work?
7) Do you recommend any sorts of degrees or prior knowledge for this occupation?
8) Is there any skills to take from this occupation?
9) How long have you worked in this occupation for?

1) What inspired you to choose this profession?
The gratification that comes from accurately diagnosing a problem and successfully fixing it.

2) What kind of education did you complete before becoming a Service Technician or Mechanic?
I earned an associate's degree from a reputable state technical school.

3) Did you have any other jobs before becoming a Service Technician or Mechanic?
Yes, I worked in the food service industry.

4) What additional training or education did you undertake to become a Service Technician or Mechanic?
Beyond my associate's degree, I have received manufacturer certifications from Toyota, Hyundai, and Ford. I am also a proud holder of the ASE certified Master Automobile Technician title, with advanced level certifications in engine performance and advanced driver assistance systems.

5) What kind of services do you offer to your customers?
My role in the automotive industry is quite distinctive. I offer my customers advanced services such as scanning, diagnosing, and calibrating Advanced Driver Assistance Systems.

6) Where have you worked or what was your workplace like?
I am employed by a company named asTech.

7) Would you recommend any specific degrees or prior knowledge for this profession?
I would strongly suggest attending a trade school. Automobiles are highly complex, and having a strong foundation in areas like electrical theory and diagnosis, computer networking, emissions systems, and hybrid/electric drivetrains can give you a significant edge.

8) Are there any skills that can be gained from this profession?
Absolutely, problem-solving is a key skill. The diagnostic abilities you develop in the automotive field can be applied to many other areas of life.

9) How many years have you been working in this profession?
I have been in this profession for 12 fulfilling years.

Hello Nathan,

1) What lead you to this occupation?
I had an interest in automobiles.
2) What education did you undergo before becoming a service Technician or Mechanic?
I've only been in K-12 public schools.
3) Have you worked in any previous occupations before becoming a service Technician or Mechanic?
I worked in the fast food industry.
4) What training or education did you undergo to become a service Technician or Mechanic?
I went under a Automotive Service Excellence test in order to become ASE certified, though this is not required but many employers are more willing to hire those who are ASE certified.
5) What services do you offer to customers?
We offer basic vehicular maintenance and care to our customers like switching tires and changing oil.
6) Where or what was your place of work?
I've worked in multiple repair shops.
7) Do you recommend any sorts of degrees or prior knowledge for this occupation?
I do suggest as previously mentioned ASE certification.
8) Is there any skills to take from this occupation?
Being able to figure out what issues there are and knowing basic maintenance skills.
9) How long have you worked in this occupation for?
15+ years!
