Good luck with the journey! First, it would definitely help to have a coach that played college soccer that can show you the ropes. I played D1 tennis so here's what I focused on
1. You've got to make sure that you are performing in the classroom. College coaches want students with high GPAs so they won't have to worry about them being academically ineligible when they get to campus. If you can get a GPA above a 3.5 that puts you in the best tier and makes you most desirable, but 3.0 may work depending on how you perform on the field.
2. You've got to be practicing every day, multiple times a day. You need to eat, sleep, and breath soccer. Always perfecting your craft. Good things come to those that work for them.
3. You need a TEAM. Whether that's your parents and family, friends, coaches, mentors, you need people in your corner that know what your goals are.
4. Private coaching or soccer clinics, you need to craft your skills in an environment with other players. Make sure you research, and are available for, invitationals, clinics, tournaments. Your coach can help you with the ones that strategically make sense.
5. Record yourself and reach out to coaches. They legally CANNOT reach out to you until you reach a certain age, but you can reach out to them and get feedback on your game. Send the film and a request for some advice to coaches emails (you can research these).
