Joe’s Answer

Underwater welding is a challenging career path.

I see there was a solid answer with links to various online resources. Doing research online is always a great place to start.

From a more practical perspective, underwater welding combines two different careers, welding and diving. This means, you will benefit from targeting those skills and demonstrating proficiency in those areas. For example, progressing through various dive certifications will communicate you are aware of how to operate underwater. Trade school, special programs, and hands-on apprenticeships in welding will develop those core skills.

In additional to a traditional career path, public services (like the military) is also a great way to get into this type of career. While any branch of the services would have underwater welders, those tied more closely (Coast Guard, Navy, and Marines) are great places to focus.
