Tara T’s Answer

STAYING ON TRACK

Begin by creating two lists: Essential and Optional.

The Essential list includes deadlines for tests, assignments, college financial paperwork (grants, scholarships, financial aid, student loans), personal finances (utilities, internet, phone, housing, transportation costs), college expenses (tuition, textbooks, laptop, etc.), and food. Prioritize these items for success.

The Optional list covers choices like eating out versus instant noodles or home-cooked meals, socializing with friends instead of completing assignments early or working extra shifts, and spending time at the gym rather than studying for upcoming tests.

A balanced college, work, and personal life is important, but if you struggle to complete the Essential list on time, reassess your priorities. If finances are an issue, find ways to make ends meet. If your course load is too heavy, consider part-time instead of full-time enrollment. Graduation may take longer, but avoid burnout while pursuing your career goals. Time management, organization, and setting priorities will help you succeed. Don't hesitate to seek support and advice or ask for help. Good luck on your journey!

Tara T recommends the following next steps:

Time-management
Organization
Prioritizing
Make utmost importance list and elective list
Work on having a good college-work-life balance

To be very candid, motivation will not always be there. One determining factor that will keep your goals in check is having the discipline to get the task at hand done and not make excuses.

Staying motivated and on track while juggling multiple tasks can be challenging, but with the right strategies and mindset, you can maintain your focus and avoid falling behind. Here are some tips to help you stay motivated and organized:

Set Clear Goals: Start by setting clear and specific goals for each task or project you're working on. When you have a clear direction, it becomes easier to prioritize your tasks and stay focused.

Prioritize and Plan: Evaluate the urgency and importance of each task, and then prioritize them accordingly. Create a to-do list or use a task management tool to plan your activities and allocate time for each task. Break down larger tasks into smaller, manageable subtasks to make them less overwhelming.

Manage Your Time Effectively: Time management is crucial when juggling multiple tasks. Use techniques like Pomodoro Technique (working in focused bursts with breaks in between) or time blocking (allocating specific time blocks for different tasks). Find a time management system that works best for you and helps you stay productive.

Avoid Procrastination: Procrastination can derail your progress and increase stress levels. Combat it by understanding your procrastination triggers and implementing strategies to overcome them. For example, break tasks into smaller, less intimidating parts or use positive reinforcement techniques like rewarding yourself after completing a task.

Maintain a Positive Mindset: Motivation often comes from having a positive mindset. Remind yourself of the reasons why you're pursuing these tasks and the long-term benefits they will bring. Celebrate small victories along the way to stay motivated and boost your confidence.

Stay Organized: Keep your workspace and digital files organized to avoid wasting time searching for things. Use folders, labels, or productivity tools to keep track of your tasks, deadlines, and resources. A clutter-free environment can enhance your focus and productivity.

Seek Support and Accountability: Don't hesitate to reach out to friends, family, or colleagues for support. Share your goals and progress with them, and consider finding an accountability partner who can help you stay on track. Joining study or work groups can also provide a sense of community and motivation.

Take Breaks and Practice Self-Care: It's important to give yourself regular breaks to recharge and avoid burnout. Engage in activities that help you relax and rejuvenate, such as exercise, meditation, hobbies, or spending time with loved ones. Taking care of your physical and mental well-being is essential for sustaining motivation

Madi’s Answer

Hi Chloe,

A great way to remain inspired is to consistently manage your time. Organizing your time can significantly diminish the stress you experience and support you in staying focused. There might be days when you don't accomplish everything you intended, but that's perfectly fine. As long as you have a well-thought-out plan and a solid understanding of your tasks, it can really help you stay motivated.

Wishing you the best!

Motivation comes from within, so you have to first be able to motivate yourself. But when you're juggling a bunch of things and you aren't doing all of them great, just ok, then that's a sign that you're doing too much. Cut back. Also, I motivate myself by reading positive words of affirmation, motivational messages, thoughts and speeches. Pinterest has some great stuff. Put a word in the search bar with quotes (motivational quotes) and read what comes up. Also journal and set goals for yourself. In your journals talk about what you want to accomplish and write down how it feels to accomplish your goals. What you shouldn't do is beat yourself up when you don't accomplish your goals. With positive words of affirmation, only feed your mind and your heart positivity. Meaning, today I motivated myself and I feel amazing and I'm looking forward to keeping it up. Or today wasn't my best work, but tomorrow is a new day to challenge myself. Create goals and challenges for yourself Sunday night and check your list the following Sunday. Most importantly, REWARD yourself for staying on task and keeping yourself motivated. WE are more motivated when we are on task and doing things we love. So make sure to put fun things in your life to keep the motivation going. Love You First. That's all the motivation you will ever need.
