Hello, Eduardo! Coming from a family of dedicated firefighters, I have a unique perspective on this subject. You might want to think about becoming a volunteer firefighter if your community offers this opportunity. Volunteering can give you a taste of the environment and what it's like. As someone else mentioned, earning certifications is an excellent way to demonstrate your dedication. You'll need to apply to a county or city fire academy eventually. It's a good idea to research their specific pre-qualifications now, so you can start working on them.

Additionally, you can look into the requirements for successfully completing the academy. This may include activities like repelling from a building, climbing a certain height on a ladder truck, and more. There are certainly physical challenges involved. Wishing you the best of luck!

Hi there, First of all I’m an ER nurse but have many friends who are firefighters. The first step even right now you should try to get certified for basic life support (BLS) and then Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and the last one Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications. Then after high school you should try to get into Emergency Medical Technician Program (EMT), they will see that you are serious to pursue the program when you have the 3 above certifications. Then after becoming EMT you should work with the ambulance company for awhile to see if you like the job. Then you can decide if you want to be a paramedic/firefighter which is another program to complete.
