What should I do after high school if I want to go to the U.S?
What should I do? I'm a high school student looking for some advice regarding major/sponsorship/financial-aid/college options/job options. I live in Colombia and after high school I want to study in a U.S University that later on helps me find a job/get a job visa. I'm very unsure about career options as my interests vary.

Hello Emilio! It's fantastic that you're considering US schools! As someone who has also come from abroad, moving to the US has opened up numerous opportunities and broadened my horizons. To start, focus on finding the ideal school for you - it might be helpful to look for one in a city, as larger global companies there may be more open to hiring international candidates. Plus, having an airport nearby makes it easier to visit home! Most schools have excellent advisors who possess the connections and expertise to guide you in your career. Regarding financial aid, each school offers different assistance, so it's crucial to speak with their financial aid offices when applying. Additionally, you can explore various scholarships by searching online or contacting the financial aid office again.
Thank you for giving me advice.

Hi Emilio. I think a good option is to look for scholarships that allow you to go an study in the US. You need to first identify the are you would like to work on, and then determine a career path. You can look at the following pages for scholarships and additional information https://fulbright.edu.co/para-colombia/ and https://educationusa.state.gov/

Hi Emilio!
It's brilliant what you are thinking about, From my personal perspective, there are many options but something that can be helpful and most likely a roadmap for the next century is to focus on technology. Currently, I'm working in a software company that has great internship programs even in Bogota Colombia, of course, it depends on your tastes for professional careers, but without any doubt, all careers that are aligned to technology can be one of the easiest ways to apply for a Visa and option to study abroad, also currently it works to get a job in the current country (Colombia) with good salary. A good option it's consider a different country as Canada or different countries in Europe. Best wishes!

I have a couple colleagues who are on visa in the states. I would say to start looking around at the jobs that aren’t stating they cannot accept visa applicants. My colleagues were in purchasing, they handled the money negotiations, Sourcing. I know there are other professions that will be more open to visa applicants as well. I would look for bigger companies as they’ll have the money and people to handle the visa application process.
I don’t know anything about college unfortunately, but I think those visas are easier to get!
