How to get experience as an undergraduate social work student who is unable to drive?
I am looking for ways to gain experience through virtual capacities and online certifications. Feel free to include other ideas as well that are not virtual just so I can explore those options later on when I purchase a vehicle.

Hello Ashley!
A good way to build social work experience is volunteering! Some BSW degree programs require college students to complete volunteer work, because it allows them to learn social skills and how to work with people in their community.
There's virtual ways to volunteer:
- The Crisis Text Line: https://www.crisistextline.org/become-a-volunteer/
- The Crisis Clinic: https://crisis-clinic.org/volunteer/
- YouthLine Peer Crisis Intervention: https://www.theyouthline.org/volunteer/
- DCTP: NC assistance groups: https://dontcallthepolice.com/charlotte/
You can also search for "hopelines" or "warm lines" online. Take a look at each of the group's requirements and see if you're eligible for working with them.
There's also in-person volunteering... There's a few ways you can reach places without a car.
If you can, you can use a bicycle, scooter, or public transportation to travel.
Some places allow you to rent scooters and bikes. They cost money, but it's less than a car. Public transportation might have the most affordability.
Here's some places you can check out:

Here's a link to learning more about local bus travel:

Sending you good luck with getting experience in social work :)
