You could start trying with small tasks, set a deadline, that usually helps to focus on what you need to do.
If you have a target that can be separated into several minor tasks that can also help, in this case you would need to give an overall timeframe for the bigger task and then according to this you can asses the length the small tasks need to have.

Goal Setting 101: reflect/visualize on what you want in life, write down what you want to accomplish as specific as possible, think through how to get there in as much specificity as possible.
Often times, big goals are too broad, too vague and seem too far away. So what do we do? Nothing! Because that's a human, normal response to rationalize how impossible monster-sized goals are. So, we stick with what seems truly attainable, what is realistic, common, and known to us. That's normal -- 100%. So, take big goals and break them down to baby steps. For example, how do you get an A in a really hard class? One assignment at a time. You seek out a tutor, complete all homework/readings, etc.
One perspective counter to this is to acknowledge not making any decisions or choices, is a choice itself. You don't want to be too passive about life and not have any clear goals/objectives. At critical points in our life, we must trust our judgment to make the best decisions given the information we have on hand. Decision making is inherently flawed. You will never have all the information or potential outcomes, and that's okay.
