Hi Jasmin! LinkedIn is a powerful tool which can greatly help you, if used correctly.
I would start by filling out your portfolio to the best of your ability. This includes having a description, profile photo, tag line, and detailed descriptions of your experiences and education. I would also include any relevant classes and certifications you have to show your qualifications, if applicable. Upload your resume and share that you're open to work.
Next you need to build your network. Connect with your classmates who have similar interests. Also find recruiters for companies and jobs you are interested in, and check their posts regularly to see if they'll announce any open roles. Message recruiters you are interested in hearing from and build a good connection with them.
Build your skills with LinkedIn Learning and add those badges to your profile. Create posts when you enter a new role, school, or have earned a new accomplishment. Repost and celebrate what your peers say or accomplish. Keep adding connections and growing your network so more people know who you are. Be vary of scams and advertisements of false products.

Hi!

I suggest using LinkedIn as a means of a search engine in a way. LinkedIn is a great way to identify what jobs are currently on the market, however the best way to efficiently apply for a job is to go directly through the company website. I use LinkedIn to see who works for the company and whether or not to reach out to them in addition to the website's application and to support it. You can demonstrate your interest in the company and look at their past experiences and see the pathway to how they got to where they are.

You can also used LinkedIn as a means of virtually building your professional network and can reach out to your connections via the private messaging system and demonstrate interest in that way. Also seeing connections from alumni from your school and be able to reach out to them on the basis of that. Grow your network so that you get exposed to all different types of companies and professionals! It is a great way to get your face to match your name and to match your interests and work experiences.

Hi Jasmin!

Great question! I'd recommend exploring two strategies: utilizing the "Jobs" tab and directly reaching out to recruiters from companies that pique your interest.

The "Jobs" tab is a powerful tool that lets you filter by specific locations, job roles, and more. It's an excellent way to discover what kind of roles are available and identify companies that are currently hiring. Many of these companies have streamlined the application process, using information from your LinkedIn profile, making it easier to apply.

On the other hand, directly messaging recruiters can be instrumental in expanding your professional network and gaining valuable insights from individuals who are part of the company. Many recruiters can provide guidance to help you identify opportunities that align with your skills and interests.

Wishing you the very best on your job search journey!

LinkedIn is a great tool for networking with professionals! Informational interviews are incredibly helpful, where you can talk to a professional informally to hear about what they do and get some advice for how you can improve your chances of landing a role. They can also help you find other people to talk to who are also in your field of interest, so you can expand your network even further.

Beyond just meeting people for the first time, you should definitely connect with people you meet at professional and recruiting events. Reach out to them now and then to stay in touch.

Another tip is that you can search company's pages to find people who work there who also went to your school. This is helpful because you will already have something in common when you start that relationship, and the professional may be able to give you more specific advice as to how they utilized your school's resources to help them ultimately get a job.

Mohit’s Answer

LinkedIn is a platform for professional networking.

To begin, ensure your profile details and sections are thoroughly filled out, including any that are relevant to your field or career goals.

Next, start building your network by connecting with others.

There are three effective strategies to leverage LinkedIn for job opportunities:

1. Utilize the 'LinkedIn Jobs' feature to discover and apply for jobs that match your skills and interests.
2. Network with professionals from specific companies you're interested in and seek out referrals.
3. Connect with recruiters to stay updated on the job vacancies they post, and apply when you come across a position that suits your qualifications.
