To get into a division I school, make sure you have a tutor for academics and SAT tests. Monitor the NCAA application site for their minimum required G.P.A. and work with your counselor and tutor to continue to work towards that goal throughout your school career. For your sport, focus on foundational skills, flexibility, and mobility. Then focus on the things recruiters look for that cannot be coached: good decisions, work ethic, effort, being on time, energy, your passion and attitude, body language, your ability to accept instructions, self motivation and being prepared. My next steps for you in 9th grade are below.
Ask your school counselor what the NCAA core classes are and get them on your I.G.P
Save for an NCAA ID number (about $90.00)
Scrub your social media and add your NCAA ID number
Create a Hudl account (see your coaches for this)
Create S.M.A.R.T. goals for grades and your sport

SKILLS NEED FOR COLLEGE BASKETBALL AND A GOOD EDUCATION FOR LIFE'S HICCUPS
-Talent
-Practice
-Accountability
-Good grades
-Good test scores
-Time Management
-Teamwork
-Communication
-Active Listening
-Focus
-Drive
-Determination
-Good Sportsmanship
Do your best to incorporate these skills during your high school years and recruiters will notice you, mostly for your talents and ethics. The more skills and ethics you have the better you look to them. Plus, maintaining an outstanding academic record then you will stand out more to them. Always remember to obtain an education to be able to keep playing. I know basketball is fun and if you make the Pros, you could make a great salary. But also, remember with basketball coming competition and sports injuries. So, educate yourself with a backup plan to be prepared for life's hiccups.
