How can I work in Pro Sports as a strength coach/ exercise physiologist ?
How might I work in pro sports. I am a high school student interested in working in sports, in either the strength and conditioning, or sports medicine. What are more specific careers inside of those industries that would allow me to work with professional or collegiate sports.

One of my childhood friends does this for a living and he has a degree in Sports Medicine. He does coaching (both private and at school) as well as working at a PT (physical therapy) clinic and volunteering for other similar organizations for people that need help recovering from sports injuries.
I would recommend looking for schools that have that degree flow and maybe see if there are any business in your local area you can volunteer or possibly intern at. This will give you some experience and the opportunity to talk to professionals doing the work. If you are wanting to do the private coaching thing, you might just google private coach for XXX sport and contact them, see if they need an assistant and you may be able to work with them as well that way.

I would recommend internships during college which will get your foot in the door and give you experience. You can do several over the course of your degree and it will help you make connections and meet people in your field.

During my DPT clinical rotations, I was lucky enough to be placed with Angels minor league system in Tempe AZ. In doing so it helped build connections and open a door into professional sports that is not easy to do or obtain through the old saying “of a hard work”. Find a way to shadow or volunteer with high school, college, semi, or pro sports to open that door build those connections. Also as a DPT I was limited by not having an ATC as well. If you have time get your ATC, find anyway to get your foot in the door and grow “work hard” from there.
