What jobs pay high that are not usually not talked about ?
I wanted to know this because it's just a general question that a lot of high schoolers have, but other than doctors, or stem majors I want to know other jobs that pay highly just not talked about as much.

Teachers often highlight well-known and esteemed professions like doctors, lawyers, engineers, or business executives. But there are also a bunch of other jobs that aren't as commonly talked about, yet offer great pay. Let's take a look at some of these:
Air Traffic Controller: These folks make sure planes move safely and smoothly both in the air and on the ground. It's a job that needs special training and because it's so important, it pays really well.
Petroleum Engineer: These engineers come up with ways to pull oil and gas from underground. They usually work in the energy sector and their technical know-how and the demand for their skills means they can earn a hefty paycheck.
Actuary: As Atul pointed out, this job is a hidden treasure. Actuaries deal with financial risks, especially in the insurance and pension sectors. They use math and stats to analyze data and predict what might happen in the future. Their specialized knowledge and the importance of managing risks in finance means they can earn a lot.
Data Scientist: Data scientists dig into big sets of data to pull out useful information that helps businesses make decisions. As more and more industries rely on data, data scientists are in high demand and can earn a pretty penny.
Anesthesiologist Assistant: Anesthesiologists get a lot of attention, but their assistants are often overlooked. These pros work with anesthesiologists to give patients anesthesia and keep an eye on them during surgery. It's a job that needs special training and can pay well in the healthcare sector.
Patent Attorney: Patent attorneys know all about intellectual property law, like patents, trademarks, and copyrights. Their expertise in protecting intellectual property can lead to high-paying jobs, especially as technology and innovation continue to grow.
Airline Pilot: Becoming a pilot takes a lot of training and experience, but airline pilots can earn a lot, especially in commercial aviation. With more and more people flying, experienced pilots are key to the industry. In 2024, there's a high demand for first officer applicants. As an ERAU graduate, I often get asked for help finding someone who can do commercial aviation duties.
These are just a few examples of jobs that pay well but might not get as much attention from teachers. They offer great career opportunities for those with the right skills and qualifications.

Atul’s Answer
To venture into fields beyond medicine and STEM, such as becoming an Actuary, you'll need to have a strong grip on Math. It's not a walk in the park to clear their exams, but once you do, the rewards are quite generous.
Industries like insurance and banking are always on the lookout for such skilled individuals. Even the government finds great value in this profession.
But it's not just being an Actuary that requires dedication and hard work. Other professions, like selling insurance or becoming a tradesman, demand just as much effort. In fact, there's currently a high demand for home improvement professionals like plumbers, electricians, and carpenters. So, if you're considering a career in these fields, there's never been a better time!
