If you're looking for a good school for arson investigation and prefer to stay close to Illinois while being located in a wooded area with good weather like South Carolina, there are a few options you can consider. Although there might not be an exact match for your desired location, the following schools offer programs related to fire investigation and are located in or near Illinois:
Eastern Kentucky University (Richmond, Kentucky): While not in Illinois, Eastern Kentucky University offers a renowned Fire, Arson, and Explosion Investigation program. It has a strong reputation for training professionals in fire and arson investigation.
Southern Illinois University (Carbondale, Illinois): SIU offers a Fire Service Management program, which includes courses related to fire investigation. Although it may not have a specific arson investigation program, it provides a solid foundation in fire-related studies.
University of Illinois at Chicago (Chicago, Illinois): The University of Illinois at Chicago offers a Fire Science Program through its College of Applied Health Sciences. While it doesn't focus exclusively on arson investigation, it provides a comprehensive education in fire science and related fields.
Lewis University (Romeoville, Illinois): Lewis University offers a Fire Investigation Certificate program. This program provides specialized education in fire investigation techniques and prepares students for careers in fire investigation.
While these schools may not offer programs specifically focused on arson investigation, they provide relevant education and knowledge in the broader field of fire science. Additionally, you can consider online courses or training programs that specialize in arson investigation, as they may offer flexibility in terms of location and scheduling. It's important to research each institution, review their course offerings, and contact their admissions departments to ensure they meet your specific requirements and career goals.
