What are some career options in agriculture that are not farming or ranching?
Hi! I do 4-H, and now that I am thinking about my future, I am looking in going into the agricultural field, but I do not want to be a farmer or a rancher. What other options do I have? Thanks!

Dear Malia,
There's a wide array of career options to explore within the agricultural sector, beyond the traditional roles of ranching or farming. One such exciting area is forestry. My son, a recent graduate from the Agriculture department, specialized in Forest Fire Science. This field involves understanding fuel management strategies for effective fire control, as well as a deep study of forestry.
There are also other aspects of agriculture that deal with broader land management. This could open doors for you to work in sectors such as air quality control, pesticide regulation, and water resource management. These opportunities become accessible through various specialized departments within the broader field of agriculture.
In essence, the agricultural field is vast and diverse, offering a multitude of career paths that you could potentially explore.

My son was in 4-h, he is now a helicopter pitot. 4-h is great but it's a big world . My best advice is to find something you love to do. Then find a way to make money doing it. If you love it, it is a lot easier to get up every day and go do it! He has been flying for years and would rather be in the air than on the ground. Good luck in your search.
