How to start college applications

What should I start writing about on my college application if I’m interested into going into cosmetology? Also what scholarships are recommended to aim for?

Thank you comment icon Before starting, I very much recommend to speak with as many alumni and current students as possible. This gives you a great feeling for the college and what the recruiting team is looking for. Wish you best of luck with your application! Marco Breitner

Hi Kimberly!

Your college applications are a way to show off yourself, and explain to others what you're passionate about. Use the prompts and the other portions of the app to showcase what values you hold, and what you define as important. The purpose of the application is for someone reading your application to understand who you are as a person, what drives and motivates you? Why do you want to go into cosmetology? What experiences have you had that have prepared you for a career in cosmetology?

Good luck writing!

Colleges are eager to discover the authentic you. When submitting applications, there's no need to embellish your achievements or craft an essay that you presume they'd prefer. Being truthful about your identity and experiences will increase your chances of landing at a college that genuinely suits you.

Here's a simple guide to prepare for your college applications:

1. Familiarize yourself with the standard terms used during the application process. Knowing how to navigate college applications involves understanding commonly used acronyms, essential documents, and related government departments.

2. Understand the correct timeline for applications. Each institution has its own deadlines, but there might be key dates to remember during your junior or senior year.

3. Learn about the different elements of a comprehensive application. Typically, colleges request additional application materials such as letters of recommendation, transcripts, and written essays.

4. Collect the required documents:

By following these steps, you're setting yourself up for success in your college application journey. Remember, authenticity is key. Be proud of who you are and let your true self shine through in your applications.
