Joseph’s Answer

Many universities now offer the convenience of online classes. The initial steps involve visiting the enrollment and financial aid offices and submitting your application to the University.

Once enrolled you can choose any class that suits you and any venue, including online. I would also suggest a college counselor to guide you in the right direction as well, most universities can direct you to one for free.

While some institutions offer 'certificates' as a form of higher education, if you're still exploring your career path, a University might be a better choice. A University would give you a more versatile career path, allowing you more freedom to choose your field regardless of what your degree was in.

It's thrilling to hear that you're considering furthering your education at college. Once you've pinpointed your preferred major, I'd recommend conducting an online search to identify colleges and universities that offer online programs in your chosen field. The silver lining of the pandemic is that a multitude of colleges and universities have broadened their online offerings.

I'm currently pursuing my own education online through the University of Phoenix. The institution offers a wealth of tools and resources for online learners. If there's a physical campus near you, you might also have access to some of their on-site labs. However, I've personally never needed to utilize these in-person services as their online platform is incredibly intuitive and has always provided the support I needed.

Here's to your success in making this important decision.

Stephanie LH’s Answer

Research public, state and private schools and their programs in your area. Ask about their virtual platforms and if you can have a demo. Also ask how, when and where their tests are proctored as some use proctoring software, two way video and sound feeds, a certified testing facility, or others require you to go to the test center for the school (like the University of South Carolinas' online program). Discuss requirements for going into the school for academic assistance (writing or math. labs or tutoring) and or student success services or of those are offered virtually also.

Stephanie LH recommends the following next steps:

Research schools, their costs and programs offered
Ask to see a demo of their web based platforms to make sure the GUI works for your needs
Ask if the school plans to buy new systems or do any major upgrades (like making the platform accessible)
Ask for sample web based course syllables
Ask how weekly, mid term and finals tests will be conducted, when and where
