What are some careers that are based on helping the environment?
I want to get into a job where I could help the environment or animals, but I don’t want to get into being a veterinarian, so any ideas? I’m an 11th grader and I’ve taken biology, chemistry, and physical science

Hi Brianna,
It's good to hear from you! I would first start off by volunteering at a beach in your city if they have any, or you can start volunteering at a local garden. In advance, this will benefit you to become more engaged with your community. You can find a job that is related to your field of science. If you like the ocean, maybe you can become a marine biologist. They have good salaries. Also, you can become a biologist or a chemist. Therefore, you will need to work at a lab. You will need to find a job that you feel most interested in and passionate about. Good luck!

Brianna - The number and variety of environmental careers are increasing, so you have many options. You could work directly on land conservation or marine biology, as well as advocate for and monitor environmental policies and laws. Most companies have sustainability officers who monitor progress on and commitments around environmental sustainability goals. For careers related to animals that are not veterinarian, you could consider serving as the executive director of a nonprofit animal shelter, advocating or monitoring policies and laws related to animals or being a pet therapist.
Thank you! I never knew pet therapist was a choice and I’m interested in some of the options you suggested!

Hello Brianna,
Thank you for your wonderful question.
If you want to help the environment consider fields like environmental engineering/scientist.
Because as an environmental engineer/scientist you will learn how to protect the environment from pollution of all types including water, air, noise and other forms of pollution.
Also in this field you would gain field/practical experience and see what scientists are doing to improve the environment and make living better for people.
Thank you!

The variety and scope of professions dedicated to environmental preservation are expanding significantly. These professions encompass scientific roles like conservation biology and wildlife rehabilitation, as well as non-scientific roles such as ESG reporting management and climate change analysis. Each of these careers is crucial in tackling environmental issues and fostering sustainable methods to safeguard our Earth.
