I am an upcoming high school senior and I would like to major in neuroscience, what do you recommend to get to know the college?
It is easy to just apply for the most quality neuroscience program, but I'm also looking for research opportunities, affiliated hospitals, quality professors, and a safe environment. How can I get this kind of information about a college?

Hello, Pragnya !
Even though I do not know which geographic region you are in, I will try to be helpful because your question is important and if there's a way to help I am happy to do so.
There is a very useful internet site called Rate My Professors. It would be a great way to learn what other students are saying about particular professors at the school and department you choose. This site also lets you compare two schools at once and see which one is more preferable to you. I will provide the link to this site below. There is also a site called Spot Crime. If you want to study in a safe city you can use this site to see what their crime rate is.
When you begin studying neuroscience, your department will probably assign you to research assignments. By being a student, you will get to know the nearby hospitals and venues that may offer opportunities. I am not sure where you'll be studying or I could be more specific and name names !
Another possibility for research opportunities may also be actual paid work. Go to Indeed (the employment website) and enter a search for research [work]. Once you know where you'll be studying, what town, you can search for those jobs in your town. Like I mentioned, your course of study will most likely include assigned research work so you will have to give school your priority while classes are in session.
In the United States, some of the best schools for neuroscience are Harvard, UC San Francisco, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Stanford University, and Johns Hopkins University. Columbia University, UCLA and Yale are also great !
I always say that the best way to get to know a college is to visit it in person. If it is a college that one of your friends or relatives go to, ask if you can visit them and sit in on one of their classes (if they get permission for that). Visit the school's student union, admissions office and academic counseling office and ask a lot of questions - ask staff and students, too ! Get a feel for the campus. There are state universities that offer neuroscience and cost less than the colleges I have mentioned. Also look at these colleges in the region you would like to study in.
I wish you all the best in finding the perfect college for your studies. It will be exciting to explore !

I apologize for not answering the question. I tend to dive in headfirst without first figuring out what the question really was.
The answer to your question is to call the admissions office and ask them what you need to do to guarantee yourself admittance.
And remember: if Rudy did it at Notre Dame then so can you!
