Becoming a police officer is not hard, it usually requires some schooling. Basically learn about your local/municipality laws. The main thing is learning your Federal laws which is usually 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th and 6th amendments. You'll go through an academy for usually 6 months to learn law, tactics, dealing with various behaviors and so forth. Don't just look at policing as job security because if you do, that's how people get hurt. Put your all into and expect the unexpected. Not everything is sunshine being the police. You can be killed, maimed, incarcerated, suspended, sued, etc. Basically keep your nose clean and treat others how you want be treated or how you want your loved ones treated. Last thing, stay out of trouble, especially with domestics. Police depts will not take a chance on you having a domestic background. If you get a job in policing, keep a clear and calm mind. Meditate
