https://www.zippia.com/motorsports-technician-jobs/demographics/ reports that only 7% of motorsports techs are female. I would image that the NHRA # would be similar but there were a few articles like https://www.espn.com/espnw/news-commentary/story/_/id/12522214/how-success-women-drivers-nhra-engages-inspires-fans that mentioned the NHRA had more female participation that other racing sports.

I would imagine that it will take significant public initiatives to bring more women into the sports and if motorsports organization are serious then they'd need to seek to develop interest in young audiences similar to what has been done around STEM education.

Also, I think that to keep motorsports relevant to new generation it needs to be come more environmentally friendly.
Require all biofuels or electric and large % of renewables in vehicles. There's a lot that could be phased in over time to not alienate current fans.
