I want to study marine biology, is it worth it, and why?
Is studying in marine biology fulfilling? What made you want to study marine biology? Do you get to work with animals often?

Hi-
Thanks for your question on Marine Biology. I was very lucky to grow up on the coastline of Southern California, so I was close to the ocean. I loved watching the waves and seeing whales, dolphins and seals offshore. It just made me more curious about everything that makes up the ocean. So, yes studying marine biology was very fulfilling, and hard! You have to be good at math and science. I liked both of those subjects, but I still had to study hard and work on it in college. I gained an interest in migratory animals. Once I finished my undergraduate degree, I went to graduate school and worked on great white shark migration through the California water ways to Mexico, where they have their pups. I have had a chance to work with Sea Turtles in Florida, surveying their nests. I like doing wildlife conservation, so I have done my best to connect myself with work that focuses on conservation on marine species. There are a lot of avenues you can go with Marine Biology. If you have a passion for the ocean, enjoy science and like being outdoors it is a career choice!

Hi! Thank you so much for your response! You sound very passionate about marjne biology and I hope I can be like that one day. Unfortunately I'm not as fortunate to live near a coast but I also love to watch the local marine life in rivers and lakes near me. Thank you again for your repsonse.
