It depends on what your ultimate career goals are.
A High School diploma may allow you to work as a volunteer researcher in the marine biology field but if you want to make it your career a bachelor degree at minimum is needed. You will specialize even further from there.

To become a Marine Biologist, you usually need a high school diploma or equivalent. I've heard that most folks pursue a bachelor's degree in marine biology or a related field. For those aiming higher, like my daughter, completing a master's or even a doctoral degree in marine biology could be the path to go for.
