Paul’s Answer

I have seen law enforcement officers, upon exiting law enforcement, do a number of different jobs in both security and the legal field. And (Yes), their previous experience definitely helped them when they did go into security and protective services. Here are some personal examples:

* One former officer, started his own private detective agency. Over a period of time he branched into security, and now he is the CEO of the largest security and investigative agency in the region.
* Another officer, who was a chief of police, joined a security agency, and worked his way up to associate director.
Former police officers become private detectives, administrators, CEO'S, legal investigators, state or university security directors and officers, and other high ranking positions within the security industry.

Matter of fact, many of them make more now, than they ever did when in law enforcement. So, there are many advantages when moving from law enforcement to security.
