What resources exist for students in need of a laptop?
I needed a laptop for school and was wondering if there are any resources available for free/discounted laptops.

You should check out, in addition to Katelyn’s Answer, GoodWill and these thrift stores. They do check hardware components and your anonymous student could get a working laptop for a very discount price.
For example: https://www.goodwillfinds.com/electronics/computers-and-tablets/laptops/asus-laptop-e410-14-in-windows-11/10014-0000-209079.html
They even have working laptops for as cheap as $18 ...
So I would recommend checking these type of thrift stores as well, goodwill being my personal favorite because (1) they test what they sell and (2) they help the community around.

Don't forget about The Salvation Army. They sometimes have good stuff as well. I am with Mickael though. Goodwill is awesome!

Here's a simplified, direct version of your text:
Check out the Affordable Connectivity Program on the FCC website! It's a great way for you to get a discount on school purchases.
This program from the FCC helps families afford the internet they need for things like work, school, and healthcare.
You could get a monthly discount of up to $30 on your internet service. If your household is on qualifying Tribal lands, you could get up to $75 off each month.
Plus, the program offers a one-time discount of up to $100 to buy a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet. To get this discount, you need to pay between $10 and $50 of the purchase price yourself.
Remember, each household can only get one monthly service discount and one device discount from the Affordable Connectivity Program.

Hey, there! 👋
That's a great question. First and foremost, I recommend checking in with your school. Laptops are increasingly important for students' academic success and schools recognize this, so many now offer a free laptop as a benefit of enrollment or have a lending program in place for students who can't supply their own.
If your school has no internal programs in place, here are some other options to explore!
- Nonprofit organizations (The On It Foundation, Computers with Causes)
- Scholarships and Grants (Dell Scholars Program, Laptops 4 Learning)
- Discounted Laptops for Students (PCs for People, Dell Refurbished, Notebooks for Students, ConnectAll)
- Student Tech Discounts and Deals (Dell Student Discount, Microsoft Student Discount, Apple Education Pricing, Samsung Education Offer Program)
Best of luck! 💜
