YouTube is where many are self-taught during their downtime. I would find a few channels that appeal to you, so you may learn in your downtime as well. Then, practice a few skills you learned to make sure it is something in which you enjoy and feel confident. Then I would look at certification or education related to culinary arts. Also, find a food service job to really gain first-hand knowledge.

Depending on the resources you have available, you can either go to culinary school or you could work your way up within a restaurant. Sadly, turnover can be quite high, so there is a willingness to train new hires.
You can also find so many tutorials online if you want to start practicing. I bought a book called “How To Cook Everything” that I used to make some of the items I offered through my catering company.

The fastest way to master cooking is to dive headfirst into the kitchen. It may seem daunting, but believe me, it's effective. Familiarize yourself with kitchen tools, measurements, and knife techniques. Use resources like YouTube, Google, and cookbooks to aid your learning. Start with something simple, like chicken wings, find a recipe, and give it a go. As you spend more time in the kitchen, your confidence will grow. Remember, it's okay to mess up. Every chef has had their share of blunders. The key is to learn from these mistakes and move on. Ask yourself how you can improve, speed up, or do things differently. Chefs ponder these questions daily. There are various routes to becoming a chef, both formal and informal. The formal route involves culinary school, learning various cooking styles. The informal route involves learning on the job, perhaps starting as a dishwasher or prep cook and gradually advancing to an executive chef. The choice is yours! I hope this response is helpful.

Start working in a local restaurant and absorb as much knowledge as you can from the cooks and chefs around you. In your spare time cook at home and look at online tutorials and cook books to get more information. If you want to go a more formal education route, look at cooking classes and maybe culinary school. Follow your passions and see where the journey takes you!
