I would check the foundation office of the college or university that you are going to attend.

Colleges normally have large endowments, that support student scholarships, in a variety of categories.

This can include scholarships for first generation students, ones based on major or future occupatuon, ones based on campus or outside activities, ones based on ethnicity or culture, and other areas.

So, the college foundation office is probably a good place to check.

There are some many scholarships for all kinds of reasons! First, start with the school you are interested, they often scholarships based on community service, merit, location, major, etc. Those are scholarships you may have to apply for or you are automatically considered for based on your general application. Next, check out this site to start your general search (https://bigfuture.collegeboard.org/pay-for-college/scholarship-directory). From there, you can narrow down different ones to apply for. The biggest thing to remember in applying for scholarships is to make sure they are renewing. This means you don't have to keep applying and you get the money each year. Ask friends and family if they know about scholarships as well, they may know an organization or group that runs a fund each year that you can reach out to. Start early and track it all on a spreedsheet to keep your self organized. Also, even if you don't have lots of scholarships going into college, there are alot of scholarships available after you enroll that are just for sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Good luck!

Hi Leah!

The U.S. Department of Labor provides a free scholarship search tool, which is a great place to start. Simply search "U.S. Department of Labor scholarship search tool" and you should be able to find it. You can also talk to your school counselor to see if there are any local resources for finding scholarships that are offered through the school. Don't forget to complete your FAFSA as well to see if you qualify for any grants, like the Federal Pell Grant.

Once you decide on the college you'd like to attend, you can also contact their financial aid office and they will have information on various scholarships and information on financial aid available.

Good luck!

Hello Leah, it's fantastic to know you're thinking about applying for scholarships! One that I absolutely adore is this one: https://www.thegatesscholarship.org/scholarship

Don't hesitate to contact the universities you're interested in and request a list of their scholarships. You may even discover some that are local to you. Your school counselor could be a treasure trove of information about available scholarships.

When you come across a scholarship you're eager to apply for, ponder the narrative you want to share. What hurdles have you overcome in life? And in what ways do you plan to contribute back to society? Remember, your story is unique and powerful, and it could be the key to unlocking these opportunities!

Hey Leah! Congratulations! Senior year is such an epic moment! My daughter is also in her senior year. Dont limit yourself to any certain scholarship. Apply for any and every one that you find. You can apply at your local banks or credit unions. You can also search the Chegg site for scholarships and apply. The more you have they better off you'll be. Your school guidance counselor should have some names of scholarships as well. A quick google search for education grants or schlarships will pull up some nation wide and those that are local to you!

Good luck this year! Have a blast!
