Is starting a career over late in life as a Surgical Technologist a good career choice?
Always desired being in the operating room as a Surgical Technologist but made other career choices. Is it too late for me to persue it and is it a good career choice for a middle aged person.

Hi there,
Following your passion is worth it no matter the age. I would say go for it! I would also recommend finding out from friends and visiting blogs to get the opinion of those who are on the job. I went to Reddit and I mostly see regret due to pay and also happiness from those who love being in the operating room. You should also find out about the certification process and cost. Best of luck!

Hello, Tracey !
I personally would say that it would be very advantageous to make the career change and age has nothing to do with it. People are always going back to school or changing careers no matter what age they are. A Surgical Technology program takes between one and two years and than you will have to get certified. It doesn't seem like it would be too long of a journey, so I say go for it. Never let the number of an age hold you back because you must always follow your interests and you will see that it will be a big win in the end.
Best wishes to you on your career change !

Never too late! We find that our views and priorities change over time and being brave enough to do something new is to be applauded. I’ll always recommend talking to people doing that work and asking what they live and what they wish they knew while going through the training for that role. Might help you get to your destination just a tiny bit faster.
