Professor salaries can vary greatly across different fields. For instance, a starting psychology professor at a large public university in the midwest USA may earn around USD 75000, while a starting business school professor might earn about USD 150000.
Additionally, these differences can seem small during the initial years as an Assistant Professor, but they tend to grow over time. For example, a first-year assistant professor of biology might earn USD 85000, while a psychology professor might earn USD 75000. But with a possible 3% - 5% annual raise, the salary gap becomes more noticeable.
Nonetheless, success as a professor requires more than just ambition for the salary. It demands a deep passion for your field and a strong love for scholarship to support the drive to earn a PhD and join the professoriate. So, while it's important to be aware of salary ranges, it's equally crucial to choose a field that sparks your passion and love. Otherwise, it may be challenging to stay motivated in the long run.

I'm not sure about the different between medical and law professors, especially internationally, but I can provide some information on the matter. In the United States, medical and law professors earn higher salaries than other professors because of the amount of expertise needed. If you need information specific to Argentina, public workers' salaries are typically open for everyone to see. You can find them in databases, job listings, the school's website...

Hi Jonathan,
College professors are usually paid very well. Nevertheless, it hugely depends on the institution they teach at, and some other factors, such as their years of experience, the achievements in research field, and so on.
I would like to mention that to become a professor, one needs to dedicate many years, if not a few decades of hard work, research and university teaching. But since this occupation is related to intellectual excellence and outstanding research, it's worth it!
All the best.
