Hi Savannah,
You can follow your passion in many ways. Try to get necessary knowledge and skills in the field. If you are going to study at a college, just major in animating or a related discipline. Also, once you've obtained the required academic knowledge and abilities, you can apply for relevant jobs as well.

I appreciate this, thank you for the advice.

Hi Savannah,
It's fantastic to hear that you're following your dreams in the world of art and animation! If you're thinking about becoming an animator, it would be a great idea to take some art and computer science classes while you're still in high school. Don't forget about math classes too, like algebra and geometry, they can be surprisingly useful.
If your school has classes in digital design, computer animation, or game design, those could be really beneficial for you.
Lots of colleges have courses and even degrees in areas like computer animation, digital art, computer and video game design, and other related fields. The job market can be pretty tough, so it might be a good move to aim for at least an associate's degree in something like animation, computer and video game design, digital art, digital media, or a similar field.
Did you know there are Animation Summer Programs specifically for High School Students? You might want to check them out. Here's a link to a list of some of the best ones:

Starting in high school some areas have "school choice" with Governor's School of Art (South Carolina) or magnet schools. After that, technical (2- year) schools whom offer majors in video game design, graphic, or commercial arts will probably be your best bet as they have the equipment for designing the characters in 2 and 3 D. Some even have nodes to hook up to a person's face or body to show movement and emotion. Others have 3D printers so that once you design your characters you can add action figures to your portfolio and assist with your pitch.
