Hello, I'm an independent professional singer songwriter. These are some tips I use daily to help my vocals get better and stronger.
1. drinking water or hot beverages (tea) lemon, mints, or halls (cough drops) are things that can help open up the vocals,
2. practice warming up the vocals with a tune, humming can help you relax and warm up your vocals.
3. recognize your flaws
4. find your key tone (sound)
5. make any song you sing your own authentic sound
6. practice daily

Breathing exercise and singing from your diaphragm is key! Go hit some notes! :)

Does your school offer choir or music courses? If it does, why not sign up for them? They could be a great help in honing your skills. Consider taking singing lessons as well.
Try searching locally for tutors who can guide you. Your school counselor is also a valuable resource who can assist you. Remember, practice makes perfect. Over time, you'll see improvement. And who knows? We might even see you shining on a show like America's Got Talent! Keep going!

Katherine’s Answer

There are several different styles of guitar playing. You might decide to find a private teacher by going to somewhere like Lessons.com and looking for a teacher near you, or maybe it would work for you learn from videos online or something. If you want to learn more about classical guitar playing and become a classically trained player, one very good method is the Christopher Parkening Method, which is two lesson books that you could buy and work through on your own or with a teacher. The same idea applies to learning singing.

Megan’s Answer

Hi Angel,

Although I love music, it's not my area of expertise. however, my suggestion would be to join a local performing arts school/center. You can also see what activities your local community centers may offer, often times, classes are offered to residents for free or at a discounted price. This starting point will help you gain more knowledge and skills so that you can go on to pursue a career in the music industry. Other options would be to pursue an internship or volunteer at a organization that specializes in music. If you are still in school, consider joining the band and/or take music elective courses (if offered). Conducting your own research is also helpful along with trying to secure a mentor/coach in the music industry. I hope this helps a little.
