What may a potential contingency plan be if a career into culinary arts, mainly baking, wouldn't work out?
I've been planning for a while in order to enter a career into culinary arts, but in the event that it wouldn't exactly be a realistic goal for me, what could be a different career that benefits from a similar skill set?

How have you been planning? Have you attended a culinary school either high school, or community college? In some area there are apprenticeship programs. Are you baking at home? If you are teachers and career counselors have many contacts for young professionals to get a starting job. Even while your in school get a part time job to see if that is what you really like. there are many types of jobs baking. Cake decorator, bread maker, fancy pastries. wedding cake makers, etc etc. Same for cooking there are many types of cooks depending on what you like. From fast food the the most exclusive cubs, 5 star restaurant, hospitals, business dining. All have different skill sets all have different hours of operations. the only way to find out is to work.

I think either cruise ships or the US military would take you and help you build upon your skill set, hopefully to stay in, or return to, your chosen field of baking.
Beyond that, as long as you can convince someone that your skills are applicable, there are many options - bartender/mixologist comes to mind, as does chef. But, bakers are artists, creating, experimenting, perfecting. So, arts also come to mind, but, I don't know about being able to make a living at it. You could own/manage a specialty store that sells baking needs - pans, icings, etc.
Are there any other things that are of interest to you right now other than baking? That would be the thing to consider.

You could try barista, in like a book store or something similar. Coffee and pastries go hand in hand. You can then experiment with baking at home. After gathering experience apply to places as pastry chef.
