What a great question! Veterinarians, like other medical professionals, are required to complete a certain minimum amount of continuing education every year in order to retain our licenses.
In general, we are required to attend conferences, take classes, and read scientific and clinical articles in journals related to our field. Since Covid, many states now allow online webinars to count for continuing education, but most states require that you have a certain number of hours in person of attending educational lectures on veterinary medicine. The majority of veterinarians are members of the American veterinary medical Association, and receive a paper or digital subscription to its weekly journal, which is packed full of
educational articles on new advances in veterinary medicine. They are also many other veterinary journals that veterinarians read.

Michael’s Answer

Xzania, thanks for your question. Euthanasia is a very sensitive topic that is best addressed within an established animal-owner-veterinarian relationship. This forum, in my opinion, does not lend itself to answer you, even in more broad terms. What I could advise is that you contact a local veterinarian and ask if they would be willing to discuss it with you in person.
