Rosa’s Answer

Hey Kayla! Identifying who you are is the most crucial step in your career journey. Start by browsing through a few profiles on LinkedIn to get a feel for the job you're interested in. Once you've done that, perform a job search to find descriptions that align with these profiles. This will help you create a career blueprint tailored to your aspirations. Next, identify and acquire any additional skills necessary to apply for the jobs you desire. Consider seeking guidance from a mentor or coach for professional advice. There are many professionals out there willing to offer free career coaching up to a certain level. Joining career networking groups can also provide valuable insights. Lastly, craft a compelling resume to start applying for jobs. Best of luck on your journey!

Judith-Ann’s Answer

Hi, Kayla. You are asking a very important question. The career you choose will influence the rest of your life. Some people change careert 2or 3 times before they retire. It is good to question and to wonder where will I be? What do I enjoy? What am I good at? Do I want to work with people or with technical things or both? Where do I want to live? What kind of environment do I excelle in? What nurtures my soul? What feeds me energy? A good journey to answer these questions will get you started. Then look around for people who are in the profession you are choosing and ask them to share with you how they enjoy their work. As a final suggestion, get a copy of " What Color is Your Parachute?" It's all about helping you find your best path forward. Good luck to you.

John’s Answer

From an early age, I was always interested in chemistry and knew that is what I wanted to study. Once I got into college, I got a job in a hypertension research lab doing chromatography and that is what I ended up studying in grad school and did throughout my career. If I had a different job in college, maybe I would have gone a different route. I think there are many possibilities for all of us, but this is the path I ended up on and it has been great.
