Hey there, Jayla!
First off, hats off to you for your proactiveness and desire to gain a comprehensive understanding of the strategies that can aid in your preparation for the Praxis Core Exam.
Here's a set of actionable tips and strategies to help you gear up for the Praxis Core Exam:
1. Understand the scope of the test: Utilize the free Study Companion to get a grasp of what the test entails. It offers a detailed overview of the test, thorough descriptions of each section, and sample questions complete with answers and explanations.
2. Evaluate your knowledge level: It's crucial to be honest with yourself about how well you know the content. Studies suggest that individuals often overestimate their readiness. The Praxis tests are challenging and require a serious review of potential content. The longer it's been since you've engaged with the material, the more likely you'll need extensive preparation.
3. Gather your study resources: Collecting and arranging your study materials is a vital step in your preparation. Consider resources like course books, notes, college library textbooks, or even high school-level textbooks from your local library. Don't forget to check out the available test preparation materials.
4. Plan and manage your time: Start planning and organizing your time even as you're still gathering materials. Avoid last-minute cramming by giving yourself ample time for review. Choose a test date that allows for plenty of preparation time and work backward from that date to determine how much review time you'll need. Set a realistic schedule and stick to it.
5. Create a study plan: A well-structured study plan can serve as your roadmap for Praxis test preparation. It helps you understand what skills and knowledge the test covers and where to focus your attention.
6. Practice explaining key concepts: Some Praxis Subject Tests require you to effectively explain material. As a future teacher, you'll need to clearly and accurately explain concepts and processes to students. Practice explaining these concepts to gauge your ability to effectively communicate what you know.
7. Familiarize yourself with the scoring system: Each test's Study Companion provides information on how the test will be scored.
Best of luck with your preparation!

Hi, Jayla!
It has been awhile since I have taken the Praxis so I am hopeful it is still set up the same, but outside of knowing the content and studying, my biggest recommendation is to ensure you answer every question. For time management purposes, I always felt answering the essay questions first (they have the most point value) then going back to the multiple choice/select portion to complete the test allowed for me to get all my thoughts down and complete the test in the time allotted.
