What types of careers can you have in social work

I was wondering you can have in social work? I want to work with children and in a hospital. I love children and I wanted to be a doctor, but I'm not good with math. I love talking to people and helping families. Since I won't think a doctor career won't be a option for me, but I still want to work in hospital setting. #doctor #social-work #hospital #social-worker #psychiatrist

Hi,
There are a lot of careers in social work where you can work with families ..I would suggest majoring in social work or possibly a health major. You can also consider the Nursing field if you choose not to be a Dr...a lot of nurses get promoted to supervisory or administrative positions where they do work with families directly.

Here is a good link to read about social work careers:

Good luck!

Thank you comment icon Hi Lidia, There are many options for you to work with children in hospital settings, and not really need to do any math! You could work with children who are mentally ill, those who have cancer, or even just at any children's hospital! Brianna Schussler

Hello Lidia,

Illness is very stressful and scary for folks so most hospitals have social workers who help people manage the stress and fear associated with illness, make decisions (which is very challenging when stressed out), and navigate the medical world. You may want to do some research on your local hospital. I suspect someone there would be happy to speak to you about what they do and what qualifications a person needs to work as a social worker in the hospital.

Good luck!
