How do I play basketball and be a commercial pilot at the same time?
I am a freshman in high school I really want to be a commercial pilot. I love being active and playing sports and going on long hikes. I would like to know how to get where I need to be?

Hey Mariah,
Your dream of earning a pilot's license while still being able to play sports can definitely come true! Consider enrolling in an Aviation University.
Universities such as Embry Riddle Aeronautical University could be your golden ticket. Here, you can get your degree, secure your pilot's licenses, and even have time to play basketball. It's worth checking out!

Hi Mariah,
Unless you are going to an WNBA or olympic level basketball star, I think unfortunately basketball will have to be a hobby. And it's a great hobby to relax and keep you grounded.
Being a pilot will be stressful. You'll be busy. You will also be travelling most of the time: from city A to city B, 8 hours sleep, then on to city C etc. If you fly internationally, you'll have long shifts and time zones. You'll be jetlagged and tired when you come home. So, I don't think you'll be able to play in a competitive team, because you'll be away when they have a game.
But that's ok, you'll have some new adventures and a fabulous career in front of you.
Good luck!
