Anthony,
In every job you hold, you gain fabulous specific skills that you never know how they may help you in the future.
I have had several career paths over the years. Make a simple list of things that you feel you have gained from this position. Add them to your resume skill set or Linked IN.
Just because you now work in banking does not mean you could not transfer those skills to finance. Look into many things that interest YOU! The most important thing is to do something that you enjoy. You are always better at things you like.
I have no doubt you will be something spectacular no matter what !

Dear Anthony,

Mapping Your Next Career Move After a Year at PNC Bank

Having completed a year as a PNC Banker, you may be contemplating the next steps in your career journey. Depending on your personal goals, talents, and passions, there are numerous avenues to explore. Here are some paths that PNC Bankers often consider:

Banking Specialization: With a year of experience under your belt, you might want to specialize in a specific aspect of banking. This could be a particular banking product or service such as mortgages, investments, or small business banking. This path allows you to deepen your expertise in a niche area, potentially propelling your career forward within the organization.

Further Education: You may also consider advancing your education, such as pursuing a master's degree in finance, business administration, or a related field. Such degrees can equip you with specialized skills and knowledge that are highly sought after in the banking industry.

Leadership Roles: After a year as a PNC Banker, you might want to transition into a leadership or management role within the organization. This could entail leading a team of bankers, managing branch operations, or taking on responsibilities for business development and strategic planning.

Networking and Professional Growth: Participating in networking activities within the banking industry can also contribute to your career progression. Attending industry events, joining professional associations, and seeking mentorship from senior leaders can help you expand your professional network and gain valuable insights into potential career opportunities.

Exploring Other Financial Institutions: Another path to consider is seeking opportunities at other financial institutions. Switching to a different bank or financial services firm can offer fresh challenges, new perspectives, and growth opportunities for your career.

Certifications and Licenses: Acquiring relevant certifications and licenses, such as the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation or Series 7 license, can boost your credentials and open up new career paths in areas like wealth management or investment advisory services.

Career Counseling and Development Programs: Many organizations provide career counseling and development programs for employees aiming to advance their careers. Leveraging these resources can help you identify your strengths, interests, and long-term career goals, enabling you to make informed decisions about your future steps.

Top 3 Credible Sources Used:

PNC Bank Careers Page: The official careers page of PNC Bank offers valuable information on potential career paths, advancement opportunities, and development programs available to employees at the bank.

Banking Industry Reports: Reports from reputable sources such as Deloitte, McKinsey & Company, or the Federal Reserve provide insights into banking industry trends and potential career paths for professionals in the sector.

Professional Networking Platforms: Platforms like LinkedIn can connect you with industry professionals who have successfully navigated career progression in banking and can offer advice on next steps for individuals with one year of experience as a PNC Banker.

God bless!
James Constantine Frangos.
