What does it takes to be successful in an unconducive environment?
I discover most people in Nigeria and Africa go out to source for good living in the USA and European countries and in my statistics 85% of these people are always successful when they come back to their various birth countries compared to those that stay in there countries to make it to the top.
So what is that thing that one can do to be successful in this hard and uncomfortable country besides determination, no matter your determination people are ready to frustrate you, so please what's that component missing to overcome it? Thank you all

Most people leave Nigeria because of the limited opportunities but it does not mean the opportunities are not there. Leaving Nigeria for the US/Europe does not necessarily mean you will be successful. I've been on both sides and experience has taught me that you are the architect of your life and career.
Make up your mind on your career path, do everything you can to be the best in your field and the opportunities will come. Of course, we all need a bit of luck but you need to be ready to jump on that opportunity the minute it comes knocking.
Best of luck!

This is such a cool question! Here's my perspective. DECIDE THAT YOUR STORY IS DIFFERENT. Instead of looking at those other people and thinking "well they are successful because they got to leave," DECIDE that in this life YOU are going to be the example for all those that are watching YOU of someone who made something AMAZING with his life and never had to leave Nigeria to do it! I mean one day you may be traveling the world talking about exactly THIS. Your story is cool BECAUSE you are different and I can tell by your question that you are unwilling to settle for the way you have seen other people live. DREAM, and imagine what your life might look like if you were the man that wrote a NEW story, his own story. Imagine all the people you would inspire?? WHY NOT YOU?!
Read book, listen to podcasts, and go seek out stories of people who didn't get to go to the US and STILL found "success" and happiness in their lives. I'm thinking of a book by Kute Blackson called "You are the One". Give it a listen or read! He also has a podcast.
