Hello, Hannah !
I see by your tags that you have a current interest in Cosmetology so I would like to provide some inspiration for you as you explore information about this as a career.
"Interesting" may not be the main adjective for hair and skin care, but there are many reasons people do go into this wonderful career. This profession is results oriented, creative, diverse and it is an art mixed with science. There is so much on-going variety due to advances in technology, trends and product development. People who usually go into hair and skin care are people oriented and care about making people look good. Grooming is one of the values our culture and many others hold dear, as our appearance is what we greet other people with. It is also work that one can see somewhat fast results from.
Although I believe that mostly good things can be said, Cosmetology is not perfect and all glamorous, just like other fields of work. The hours can be long, you'll be on your feet for long periods of time and there's a slim chance that you may encounter a customer with lice, ticks or even bed bugs. So this part can be reality but so can the positive points of the work. If you have a strong enough drive and your own personal motivation and reasons for going into cosmetology, you will be fine. Practice adaptability, listening skills and hone all of your technical skills and you will see many positive outcomes in your career.
One of the other enjoyable aspects of this field is that you will always be meeting other professionals in this career. There will be conventions, trainings, trade shows and on social media. This can sometimes lead to work opportunities that may advance your career.
So for now, keep researching what it is like, do as many people's hair and nails as you can, practice and experience is essential. Figure out if you will go to either a Cosmetology School or a community college that offers an Associates Degree in Cosmetology. Watch hair and skin care videos, keep up with the latest style, create your own styles and techniques and have fun !
I hope this helps you along the way to a very satisfying career ! Best wishes in all you do !
