As an Equine Science major, your daily activities will involve a mix of classroom learning, hands-on experience with horses, and possibly internships or fieldwork. You’ll study a range of topics from horse anatomy and health to behavior and nutrition. To become an equine massage therapist, you can either pursue a specialized certification or integrate massage therapy training with an Equine Science degree. In Florida, universities like UF, Florida Southern College, Stetson University, and Eckerd College offer equine-related programs that can help you achieve your career goals.

Feel free to reach out to academic advisors at these institutions for more detailed information and guidance specific to your interests and career aspirations!

Hi, if you have not done so already go to www.equissage.com. It's approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork for both equine and canine massage therapy. Equissage is the oldest trainer of equine message therapists in the world. There are some other schools you can look at and research too: Geary Whiting 's Equine Massage School (www.gearywhting.com), Northwest School of Animal Massage, Western Montana School of Equine Massage. I would stay away from online schools/certifications as you really need hands on training as a horses musculoskeletal system is so large, unique and sensitive. I have used equine massage on my horse, coupled with equine chiropractic work, and it does help keep our four legged friends feeling good. Best of luck to you!

Hi Valeria,

There are quite a few colleges that offer a degree in equine science. They are going to have somewhat different flavors, so you need to go through colleges you might be interested in and check out what their focus is and what courses they offer.

You find a list of colleges with equine science degrees here:

https://www.horseillustrated.com/horse-resources-equine-college-bachelors-degree/amp

https://collegecliffs.com/best-equine-studies-courses/

I have picked out University of Kentucky, University of Central Florida and University of Florida as examples of program information:

https://www.cf.edu/academics/areas-of-study/business-and-technology/equine-studies/

Good luck!
