How Can I Earn That Last Thousand Dollars?

Besides applying to scholarships/grants and working in my college's work-study program, I would like to earn a little more cash to add to the endless pot of tuition payments. I think a great way to earn extra money is to get a part time job. Try looking for something entry level in the field or business you are going to get your degree in. That way when you graduate, you already have made connections within the industry.

Getting a part time job is half the battle, make sure to always save and even invest when you can (I admit the last part can be difficult as a student but your future self will absolutely thank you for it). Local restaurants and hotels can prove to be great networking opportunities as well as good pay if you can't get an entry level job in your field of study.
