There are several decent companies in the California, Silicon Valley area. Namely Impossible Foods. They are revolutionizing the industry with their Impossible Umami Burger. It is a fully plant based hamburger that looks, tastes and has the texture of a Real hamburger. Check out Impossible Foods.
Thanks! I'll take a look at it and their research!

You can work with food virtually anywhere now. Anything from being someone's personal chef to working in. Fortunec500 Cos. Yea most of them have there own chefs now. I work at a local college. There's also hospital's, and other schools. Most of the food service in these places are run by other companies. I work for Chartwell s, which is a part of Compass Group. There's also any restaurant and most motels. The choices are limitless. My son was living far away and I wanted to visit him for 2 months. I get summers off!!!! So I went and got a job cooking around where he lived. Oh also can cook for the military and cruise ships and vacation attractions like Disney.

There are a few ways to find jobs or careers in the food sciences. Getting an internship is a sure-fire way to point you in the right direction. Check out www.careersinfood.com, www.agcareers.com, and https://www.ift.org/career-development/job-postings. Of course, using the standard job sites like LinkedIn and Indeed are ok too. Use the search term Food Science and the filtering tool to filter out non-internships. There are also a lot of great internships with the USDA or FDA that can be found at https://www.usajobs.gov/. Now, the unpaid and paid internships I got during my undergrad were all found via networking with professors. Do not be hesitant to reach out to them, the clubs you're in, or to employers at your school's career fair.
