Hello Taleen,
You've asked an excellent question, and it's truly commendable that you, as a young individual, understand the importance of responsibility. This trait is indeed vital for roles like a Law Enforcement Detective or any Investigator. The actions you take now, like diligently finishing school assignments and projects on time and to the best of your ability, are shaping the kind of Detective you could become in the future.
Improving your writing skills will be a significant advantage. Sharpen these skills so that when the time comes to write reports as a Detective, you can do so efficiently, translating your investigations into clear and concise written form. Reading and comprehension are also crucial. They not only expand your vocabulary but also enhance your critical thinking skills.
So, you see, doing well in school, mastering basic skills, and managing your time effectively will set you on the right path. Always strive to work hard and go the extra mile, as you're not just working for grades, but for your continuous self-improvement.

Taleen,
My advice to you is see if there is an agency close by that has a police explorer program to join. This is an amazing program through Boy Scouts of America that will teach you all about law enforcement and even let you attend law enforcement competitions and conferences. I began my law enforcement career 25 years ago in a police explorer program. I also recommend since you get old enough start doing ride along with your local pd.
