I wanted to be a teacher because I wanted to be a teacher that I always wanted-fun, engaging and someone who cared deeply for students.

KELVIN’s Answer

Hello Stokes, how are you doing? This is a very Good Question. I think you are trying to ask why I want to be a Teacher. firstly Teaching is a noble Profession and good teachers are respected in society. I want to be a Teacher because I have a passion for sharing knowledge and helping others learn and grow. Teachers have the opportunity to make a positive impact on their students' lives, inspire curiosity and critical thinking, and contribute to the future by shaping young minds. Teaching can also be a rewarding profession that offers opportunities for creativity, continuous learning, and making meaningful connections with students. Working as a teacher also pays well thank you.

Belinda’s Answer

Hi Stokes - thanks for your question! I wanted to be a teacher because I liked taking difficult things and breaking them into easier to understand chunks so that everyone could understand. I also enjoy figuring out each individual's learning style and changing my training style to match it so it works best for the learner. For example, some people like pictures/diagrams, others learn best from a podcast, and many want to do hands-on learning. I really enjoy seeing someone get the 'ah ha' moment, for example, when they can do a math problem that they couldn't do before. If you like helping others and trying different ways to help them succeed, you'll likely enjoy being a teacher! If you're still unsure, you could try volunteering at a library to help with a reading program, or at a school to see if teaching is something you enjoy.

Martha’s Answer

What a great question, Stokes! In my past, I have tutored students in Literature, English, Writing and Reading and taught many kinds of skills to adults. I can share my reasons for seeking those roles, but your motivations and interests are what is right for you:
- I love to learn and firmly believe the best way to learn something is to teach it to someone else
- I find it exciting and very fulfilling to see someone grasp new information or skills and recognize their own improvement
- I was inspired by various educators and like being able to give back by helping others
- I have enjoyed getting to know and support students as they take that big leap toward college
- For the tutoring, I liked the flexibility of it since I did it during evenings and weekends

Several people in my orbit are teachers. I believe they are motivated by what I mentioned above. But I think they also like the creativity of designing how to meet the common core, working with fellow educators, and the school schedule.

Good luck with your plans.
