How I can practice About art?

as a high school student..... What should do now for me...

Thank you comment icon Hi! If creating fine art is your goal then good art classes/ tutorials and lots of practice is key. If the business of fine art is your goal then further education in art history as well as learning about all the various art forms ,antiques, art galleries and art dealers would be a good place to start. However if producing art as a whole is your goal, whether be it fine art, something contemporary or post-modern then I suggest, life exploration. By which I mean to look within, psychology, meditation or the likes of it. Also to look around sociology, history, politics, nature....if you pay attention to artists throughout history, you'll see that their illustration/ painting subjects mattered greatly to them, some painted royalty, some lower classes such as fisherman or men who waxed wooden floors, some nature, some love, sexuality, politics, cities, families, controversy and some visions dancing in their mind. Artists in a way are historians, they capture a moment in time via form, color, style texture or all of it together. That moment doesn't necessarily have to be of a physical event, it can be of emotions felt. Beyond anything, art is emotions, it's what sets your soul on fire! When you create art that you feel passionate about that art translates to the viewer. So I suggest a lot of soul searching. When you discover, "You", you will automatically know what to do! Also bear in mind that studying great artists and various methods opens the mind. Artists such as Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, Salvador Dalí, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Rembrandt, Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollock, Andy Warhol. These are just a few, don't forget that there are many a modern day artists that are also extraordinary. One of my personal favorites is Romero Britto who is from Brazil. Art museums offer not only enjoyment but also the unparalleled opportunity to appreciate masterpieces up close. Bookstores and public libraries are a second best if you are not close to any museums. Best Wishes and Happy Creating! eva emmer

Hello MD! It seems to me that you're still actively engaged in art, which is great. Typically, individuals who are interested in cultivating such skills have some understanding and experience in the field. However, I believe you might benefit from additional resources. Consider enrolling in an art school or a conservatory of art that's close to you. Your current age is the perfect time for self-improvement. Watching YouTube videos could be a helpful idea, but be cautious. Some videos may contain inaccurate information, or even worse, they may not suit your current skill level due to their non-linear learning approach. So, strive to do your best and discover your unique journey in art.

Well Md. It seems that you already made the first step...asking questions is the best way to get started with anything although sometimes we don't like what we heard or what others have to say about it, so with the been said always do what you feels is right.

When I was in high school I had one of the best club in California we were the A&E academy (Architecture and Engineering) we were engaged in many different areas of the two fields from competing against other high schools and even colleges with all those activities I had many options to chose from and it definitely help me with my career now as Heavy Equipment Operator.

Try to get involved in every aspect of Art because there's plenty of them chose what you want to do after you have researched about them as longest you stay focused on your goals everything should fall in place and when it doesn't well just go ahead another way.

Best of luck in your search for what you really want to do.

As a high school student, maybe look up some topics or ideas you want to draw or paint on YouTube and go from there. There are a lot of tutorials on how to do different stuff there. But be patient with yourself. Art takes time. Are you taking art classes in high school, or that's not available.

All of the other answers here offer good advice, so I don't want to write anything that's already been written. From a procedural standpoint, yes- join this group, take that class, study these artists, search youtube. I'd like to answer you by suggesting what you should avoid. Depending on your family's lifestyle, you either have a lot of disposable time or maybe you don't. If you want to practice art, you can never say to yourself or anyone else, "I don't have time." The truth is we all do what we want to do at some point during the day-think about how much time people spend playing on their phones. When it's not time for school, work, eating, or sleeping, you really should choose art. Sometimes creating can be very difficult and you can't get started, and so there is nothing wrong with browsing a book or a museum's online collection just to try and get ideas. The other thing to avoid- anime. Don't go down that path. You will never get anywhere by copying anime images even if you do it very well. It's important to get better at the things you do well, but if you're copying then you will eventually reach a point where there's nothing more you can do to improve. If you can piece together your own ideas and develop your own style, you will be able to keep working for as long as you live.
Thank you comment icon Hi Warren, you specifically point out that Md should avoid anime and it is not a path to pursue. Can you elaborate on why? Sharyn Grose, Admin

Hi!

Art is a multifaceted concept, and there are various ways to define it. In my view, art reflects an individual’s inner self like a mirror. Leonardo da Vinci, the great Italian architect and painter, once said that an artist must refine their soul to perceive beauty more vividly and create it. According to this perspective, true art requires a distinct and unique lifestyle where honesty, kindness, and overall dignity play significant roles.

What constitutes an artistic creation? It is something or a unique phenomenon that can define itself initially. Adhering to the cognitive elements of beauty is crucial in crafting an artistic work.

Who is an artist? An artist is someone who, after recognizing their own abilities and finding their talent within a specific artistic medium, diligently nurtures it. An artist is unafraid of experiencing various artistic methods and persistently strives to express their thoughts primarily through their hands, sharing them with others.

As a result, an aspiring artist embarks on a long and enjoyable journey of learning and practicing, guided by the teachings and exercises. So, learn, practice, and practice, and practice …

Laura’s Answer

Hello Md!
This is a great question, especially since you want to improve your art. The good news is that there are many different ways to practice art. For starters, the best way since you are still in high school is to take art-related elective courses in your schedule for next year. For you, I feel this would be the best approach because, as I said, you are still in high school, and you can get feedback from the art teacher on ways to improve your art overall and on specific projects. Another option for taking art-related elective courses is to join an art club that is part of the high school. This could be a great way to connect with other students who share the same hobby as you, and you can help each other by critiquing each other's work.

The next option would be something to do solo which would be using YouTube to look up tutorials on drawing techniques or how to draw particular objects, people, faces, animals, etc. The other option is to purchase drawing books from a bookstore or art store to improve your art. You also can look at your local library to borrow a book if you don't want to purchase the book but still want to learn from the information in the book.

Besides YouTube and drawing books, social media might be another great place to check out drawing/art-related aspects, such as TikTok and Instagram, as both platforms have videos posted on them.

I hope these pieces of advice help you to improve and practice your art, and I wish you the best of luck on your art journey!
