Diana,
What aspect of Criminology appeals to you? Many people I talk to are interested in the CSI or Behavioral Analysis aspects, which I attribute to television. I know many aspiring police officers major in Criminal Justice/Criminology.
Basically, it is usually a bachelors degree (4 years). So the easy answer is simply to go to college and get the degree, and then join the workforce. There will be many different opportunities available to you. For example, I have seen job postings for crime victim's advocate - someone who helps crime victims to navigate the social, medical, and criminal aspects of their cases.
Besides grades, one of the most important things if you want to go into law enforcement/judicial/government positions is to maintain a high moral character. Things like credit rating can affect your ability to get a job. So, watch your finances, don't skip classes, don't get in trouble with the law, be respectful towards everyone (they will come and talk to your neighbors and teachers), etc.
The college will tell you what classes you need to take. You will get to make some choices, but others will be mandatory. They will explain all of this to you, or, you can usually find it on the website.
It is a very interesting field, and I wish you the best of luck!

As Kim mentioned, it is a beautiful profession. You may graduate in other discipline and then to specialize in the Criminology. Apart of the formal degree it is very important to find out what is your interest ( Law, Forensics, Medicine, Physics) .. Please try to specialize and learn as much more about Criminology in general. You will have many ideas and opportunities. Good luck!!
